PRST EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING WITH THE TAMWA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MADAM EDDA SANGA
The meeting commenced at 09:20HRS in the morning with brief introductions whereas the people who attended this meeting included:
- Madam Edda Sanga – TAMWA Executive Director
- Mr. Ndege Makura – PRST Secretary General
- Mr. David Mwaipaja – PRST National Coordinator
- Ms. Mary Saldadaa – PRST member
- Mr. John Mashiganza – PRST member
Having given brief introductions, the Secretary General started by explaining what Public Relations Society of Tanzania is, its objectives, activities and the goals it is looking forward to achieve in the future. He briefly spoke on the long awaited body for communication practitioners in Tanzania and for raising of practice standards, hence establishment of PRST.
Madam Edda Sanga, in return presented what was the beginning of Tanzania Media Women's Association and the objectives it operates on. Briefly she pointed out that, the beginning of TAMWA was an effort to bring into practise the United Nations goals against women violence and discrimination and hence the establishment of the organization to reflect on local needs through advocacy and other initiatives.
Among other discussions, the above explanations, paved a path around the main areas the two organizations could invest efforts of cooperation. The shared areas of commonality were as far as information, communication, public awareness and research is concerned.
Madam Edda Sanga discussed that, TAMWA programmes are research and advocacy based in fighting for women rights and addressing the various challenges women in the media industry come across but also violence against women in the society in general.
In our reply, Mr. David Mwaipaja supported that, PRST as a professional communications body, can therefore exploit the skills of its professionals in awareness initiatives and communication based researches on projects and programmes that the two organizations will find fit to join efforts in the future.
The meeting further discussed and shared experiences on effectively running of the organizations' activities.
With no any other business, the meeting ended at 11:15HRS in the morning with remarks of appreciation.
